John Ferrier

Vice President of Architecture

John oversees the design of all CSM architectural projects. He specializes in the design of new buildings, renovations and additions throughout CSM’s business lines, including lodging, office, industrial, residential and retail.

John is involved in all phases of a project; from feasibility and schematic design, to the creation of construction documents and providing post-construction review and guidance. A LEED-Accredited professional, he developed CSM’s Sustainable Design Guide, which is used to outline strategies for energy-efficient, sustainable design.

John is a licensed architect, a certified interior designer and a nationally certified architect from the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards. His designs have received numerous Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP) Awards of Excellence, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s Best in Real Estate Award and several STARR Awards from the Minnesota Shopping Center Association. John earned the CSM Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2008 and the CSM Award for Outstanding Leadership in 2013.

Prior to joining CSM, John gained experience at several Twin Cities architectural firms including BWBR, Setter Leach & Lindstrom and Houwman Architects.

John graduated from North Dakota State University with degrees in environmental design and architecture. He volunteers his time with Ronald McDonald House Charities.
