John Ferrier
Vice President of Architecture and Development Services
John Ferrier is a seasoned leader with nearly three decades of experience in shaping the architectural landscape. As the Vice President of Architecture and Development Services at CSM, John plays a pivotal role in providing strategic direction to the teams overseeing project design, feasibility analysis, business development, and development entitlements.
With a career spanning the Twin Cities and across the nation, John has successfully led projects in the commercial, industrial, residential, hospitality, and retail sectors. Throughout his career, John served at CSM Corporation for 17 years before joining Doran Companies as the President of Architecture. Upon his return to CSM, John now directs the Architecture and Development Services teams, reflecting his commitment to excellence and innovation within the industry.
John holds a unique blend of design expertise, from commercial and industrial to residential, hospitality, and retail spaces. As a licensed Architect, LEED Accredited Professional, Certified Interior Designer, and certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), John combines his technical prowess with a deep understanding of clients’ business and programmatic goals.
Under his leadership, projects have received industry acclaim, winning prestigious awards such as NAIOP Awards of Excellence, Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s Best in Real Estate Awards, STARR Awards, and CSM Corporation Awards for Outstanding Achievement and Outstanding Leadership.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John is a compassionate individual dedicated to giving back. He actively supports animal welfare organizations like Retrieve a Golden of the Midwest (RAGOM) and volunteers his time at Ronald McDonald House, serving meals to families in need.
A proud native of Shoreview, MN, John attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, where he earned degrees in Environmental Design and Architecture. His passion for design and development strategy is matched only by his commitment to creating successful developments aligned with cities’ visions.
Outside of the professional realm, John finds joy in riding and restoring Harley Davidsons, collecting guitars, camping, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his wife, daughter, three dogs, three cats, and various reptiles. Currently residing in his hometown of Shoreview, John brings a personal touch to his professional endeavors, creating a harmonious blend of expertise and genuine passion.
